Today is the ninth day of our vacation.

I am feeling pretty good under the circumstances. I'm still real sore and weak, but other than that, I'm doing pretty well. I made sure I walked more today than I did yesterday. I even took a shower and washed my hair. That always makes you feel better.

I stayed in again today, Mervin and Bro. Emerson did some running around. Then they went to some church service somewhere.

We have had our second HUGE storm today. California doesn't have storms like these. These a humongous.

I am really enjoying myself though I've not been out. The men got up early and left and Sis. Emerson and I slept till about 10:30 this morning.

Sis. Emerson made tacos for dinner tonight. They were delicious.............

I guess I'll stop here for now and maybe right more after while

Just a quick note today.
I'm feeling real good. I'm pretty sore and weak, but I know that will pass within a few days.
The Emerson's are such great people to be with. Jayla left this morning to go spend a few days with her cousin. We'll miss the little Princess, but Prince (the little Poodle) I'm sure will try to get even more attention now that the Princess is not here.

This is the seventh day of our trip. I know I missed a couple of days posting. There was a reason.

We left Joplin, Mo. about noon on Friday and arrived here at the Emerson's, in Benton, AR. about 5 pm. They took us to dinner at a great catfish restaurant. The fish was delicious. We then went riding to look over the city. Beautiful town. Of course we came home and sit up late talking and catching up.

Saturday morning I got up about 9:00 with a stomach ache. It slowly progressed to severe pain. by about 2:00 pm they rushed me to the hospital and found out that I had a strangulated hernia. They took me to surgery immediately. Well I have been released and am back at the Emerson's with 20 staples in my stomach.

I don't know why this had to happen on this trip as I didn't even know I had a hernia. I do know I serve a God that has all things in control. Mervin and I were talking about how this could have happened out on the road a hundred miles from nowhere, but instead he brought us to these beautiful people, the Emerson's.

Let's not forget Jayla, Bro and Sis Emerson's daughter. She is such a delight to be around. Very smart and intelligent child. She is 7 years old and plays piano and is taking guitar lessons.

Prior to church time, she and Mervin were playing chutes and ladders. I got some pictures of that. Will post picture when I have Mervin here to help me.

This is the fourth day of our vacation.

We are having a wonderful time. After spending the night in the beautiful Victorian Carriage House, we had lunch with Bro. and Sis Muncy at the Hayes Restaurant and Tavern. The place is known as the oldest active restaurant this side of the Mississippi. What a place.. If only the walls could talk.

I had no idea that Council Grove had such history.

We visited the tree that Custer slept under before leaving for the battle of Little Big Horn. We also saw the place where the settlers signed the treaty with the Koan Indian tribe to allow them to move cattle and merchandise up and down what became the Santa Fe trail.

We left there and traveled into Joplin, Mo. to spend the night.

Since I'm so tired and Mervin's already asleep, I'll try to post pictures tomorrow evening.

trusting all is well. We're having a great time.

Well, this is our third day of our trip. We left Las Vegas this morning and with a lot of stops to see sights, we arrived here in Council Grove, Kansas in time for Service with the Muncy's. Had a great time with them this evening and will have lunch with them before leaving tomorrow.
I am trying my luck with posting pictures. Have patients with me.... This is the Court House in Kingman, Az, where my mother and dad were married over 62 years ago.

Well this is the evening of the second day of our trip.

Tonight we are in LAS VEGAS. We have had a great day. We missed the trip to the Grand Canyon by rail by only a few minutes so we'll pick it up on the way back. We have seen some beautiful country We stopped to see the Metorite Crater. Awsome..... I happened to be the one driving to this place. Mervin was looking off to the right, I looked down and back up and there were 6 antelope crossing the road. I missed them.... When we stopped in Williams AZ the elevation was 6300 feet. Wow was the air light.

By the way, we are in Las Vegas, New Mexico tonight not Nevada.
Will try to post pictures tomorrow night.

Well, vacation officially began at 10:30 this morning. As we had planned, we took our time. Stopped every so often, took pictures then rode some more, enjoying our gospel CD's.

We arrived in Kingman, AZ about 6:30 pm and decided to get a room and rest. We have now had dinner and we're back in our room to rest this evening and maybe get an earlier start tomorrow.

I'm sure this is kinda boring tonight, but I'm sure it will get better. Will try to post some pictures later.

Getting ready for vacation

Well it is Friday and I'm trying to get ready for my husband and I to leave on a driving vacation. This is something I am very excited about as I have always worked and never traveled outside of California except to rush to a General Conference and rush back home to work.

Our plans are to mosey toward Kansas to visit friends and travel back down to Arkansas to visit. My mother and dad were both born in little towns in Arkansas. Since I have never been there, I hope to visit these towns. From this point, we will decide where to go next.

My plans now are to post nightly of where we have visited.

I'm retired and now a blogger.

I have so enjoyed reading blog's of friends. Through reading blog's, I have met friends that I had not seen or heard from in years. I hope to be a good blogger and let my friends know what is going on in our life of retirement. I may be retired from my secular job, but never from the work of the Lord .
